Monthly Public Meetings
At the end of each month we host a public meeting at the New Westminster Public Library. The meetings are open to all renters in the city as well as anyone else who does not own their own housing. Allies are welcome as long as you are not currently operating a business as a landlord.
The purpose of the monthly meetings are to update our members on the recent activities of the union, advertise upcoming actions, and discuss strategy for bolstering the power of renters across the city.
We generally email the topic of the next public meeting about a week before it runs. You can subscribe to our mailing list here. If you'd like to propose a topic for discussion for a future meeting, please email nwtenantsunion@gmail.com.
The meetings run from 6:30pm to 7:45pm. Presentations generally last between 5 and 20 minutes and the rest of the meetings are dedicated to discussion and strategy settings. Most months they are scheduled for the last Tuesday of the month but always check our Events page to make sure you know the correct date.
While we generally don't have time to address individual issues at public meetings, they are opportunities to meet organizers who can schedule a future 1:1 to talk through your issue and how the union might be able to help.
